The beginning of an art adventure

Hello World!

My name, well… my pseudonym, is Humberto Soyelmar and I am a self taught visual artist from Italy. I am creating this website to share with the world my abstract drawings in the hope to start a satisfying art adventure with people from around the globe who are passionate for art like me.

Though not directly trained in drawing and art related activities, I gained a certain experience in the field of visual composition from my own inclinations, studies and from the job I do that often requires my graphic design skills to be used.

With this Soyelmar Visions project I focused my creativity on abstract drawings realized with traditional pens and paper. A bit of digital intervention after the image scanning process is made to ensure the proper quality to the printed reproductions I will possibly realize, but I can assure that 99,9% of the lines you see are drawn by hand.

My aim with printed reproductions is to create stunning and addicting doodles that people will enjoy to have in their home as decors or on their clothes and accessories, because I think this is the right way to enjoy art: by living it everyday.

My profound persuasion is that art should be easily available to anyone in order to enrich the spirits and fulfill that great ideal expressed by Fëdor Dostoevskij: «Beauty will save the world». With beauty, in my interpretation, to be meant not just as an aesthetic characteristic, but as the result of the pursue of harmony and, in the end, as an act of perfection of human behaviors and technique. I’m aware I’m not a Michelangelo, neither a Warhol or your favorite local artist, but if one of these works can be nutrition to a soul, then the goal set by that quote and by my own commitment will be reached.

I hope to have the opportunity to demonstrate this commitment very soon and I also hope you will appreciate my drawing efforts as much as I enjoy drawing them.
